PICPA Second Global Convention

September 18,2007 marks the beginning of my footsteps in the United States of America. So after my US visa arrived last August 8, 2007 excitedly went to a travel agency in Manila to book a flight. After so many anxieties in the preparations and sleepless nights over big and small details, here comes the "day". My first flight in United States was booked through Northwest Airlines. I was so excited that I didnt mind the connecting flights . It was from Manila(Ninoy Aquino International Airport) to Narita,Japan, then Japan to Detroit, Michigan , then another flight from Detroit to JFK Airport in New York City. It was a very long, tiring flight that I thank God I arrived safe and without any obstacles as I have been hospitalized due to hypertension two months ago before the flight. I was fetched in the airport by my gracious host Manny Hernandez, and after kumustahan blues went directly to their house .
The next day, Manny drove me to Sheraton La Guardia East Hotel where I stayed for three days. It was an old fashioned hotel, small in space and a different kind of entrance door, something different from an ordinary hotel. Many of our first class hotels in the country are much better. I attended the opening ceremonies together with Sayli Cabral representing PICPA Batangas Chapter.

On the last day, September 22,2007 Manny fetched me at the hotel because its his birthday celebration. Some of his friends attended the party which lasted up to I think eight o clock in the evening unlike here in the Philippines wherein you can hear videokes up to the wee hours in the morning. The following day, Mel and I made a trip to the various scenic spots of New York and we also made some shopping in preparation for my trip back home.

How I wish at this point in time, I can go back to the Big Apple, to the City that never sleeps and enjoy every minute of my stay without cramming myself to go back home..Toi you Liberty, till we meet again...
